Closing Out 2025 With Gratitude, Growth, and Purpose As we wrap up 2025 at The Color Bloc, we can’t help but look back with full hearts.
Detroit is a city of color. From the mosaic of neighborhoods that make up our city — Midtown, Corktown, Indian Village, Boston-Edison — to the natural beauty of the Great Lakes, we are surrounded by inspiration. Furthermore, Michigan’s rivers, open plains, and wooded shorelines offer endless color stories. At The Color Bloc, we celebrate that beauty through Benjamin Moore’s palette of 3,500+ paint colors.
Detroit doesn’t do anything halfway. Neither should your walls. Caliente AF-290 is a rich, deeply saturated red that commands attention. In particular, it works beautifully on accent walls and front doors. For something with more of an industrial edge, consider Bull’s Eye Red. Additionally, it makes a striking contrast against deep grays and warm wood tones — perfect for Detroit’s historic homes.
No color tells Michigan’s story quite like blue. Dark Harbor CSP-720 captures the quiet depth of Lake Michigan on a gray afternoon. It is moody, sophisticated, and perfect for a library or bedroom. For something lighter, however, Mystic Lake evokes the cool stillness of a northern Michigan shoreline. Lake 783 is also a soft green-blue that brings the calm of open water indoors. As a result, it works well in spaces where you want a relaxed, airy feel without going too bold.
Michigan’s landscapes shift from dense forests to open farmland. Because of that range, Benjamin Moore’s greens capture every shade of that journey. October Mist 1495 is a soft organic green that feels both modern and timeless. Furthermore, it was Benjamin Moore’s 2022 Color of the Year for good reason. Prairie Green brings the cool freshness of open fields after spring rain. For something more delicate, Stem Green 2029-40 is a pale shade perfect for brightening a Detroit bungalow’s sunroom or bedroom.
Neutrals done right are anything but boring. Silhouette AF-655 is Benjamin Moore’s 2026 Color of the Year. It is a rich espresso-charcoal that brings sophisticated warmth to cabinetry and accent walls. In addition, it pairs beautifully with the natural wood details found throughout Detroit’s historic homes. Thunder AF-685 is another standout — it is the exact shade of a Detroit sky just before a summer rainstorm. However, if you prefer something softer, Pale Petal 1178 adds a gentle blush tone that works well in bedrooms and sitting rooms.
